Old Town Music

Old Town Music was around in George Street, Hastings for quite a few years. The large, spacious shop had a basic feel to it (bare floor boards etc) but was a useful outlet for anyone looking for budget priced CD's, DVD's and at one time video's. During the shop's lifetime it also dabbled in second-hand vinyl but this side of things never really took off and turn around of stock was poor. The shop did sell full price CD's as well but these were mainly classic albums like 'Dark Side Of The Moon' by Pink Floyd, rock regulars like Guns N Roses and Motorhead or mainstream chart stuff of the ilk to suit the older generation (like Celine Dion, Cliff Richard etc)
Old Town Music had loads of those £2.25 import CD's featuring classic songs 're-recorded or sung live' by the original artists and a wide rang of budget DVD box sets like 'Steam Through The Ages' or 'The Second World War Heroes' or similar. The original shop closed when the owner of the shop retired but the name was kept alive briefly when the premises were taken-over for a short time by new owners. By then however, the market for such products was in steep decline however and an attempt to diversify more into vinyl and musical equipment was unsuccessful. Comment: Tony May.
