Boots London

Name Jon Wozencroft Comment: Boots was always a weird option for the dedicated record collector. But having gone in for a can of shaving foam or some pain killers, you'd have to have a look at what they had in the record section. And occasionally you'd find some odd items, helped by the fact that in the 1970s, Boots used to discount their new releases by the odd 25p or so (Our Price later developed this tactic).
In Boots, I bought a copy of the 1973 live album by the Mahavishnu Orchestra "Between Nothingness and Eternity", for this very reason (they probably only stocked it under pressure from the CBS rep).
They also used to have a bargain box of ex-chart singles - they really didn't have a clue - and I once noticed the original Sex Pistols EMI single "Anarchy in the UK" for 20p in one of their North London branches, some time after it had been deleted. (May 16, 2017)
