Gloria's Record Bar
Anyone remember Glorias record bar on Battlefield Road close to Langside Bus garage?I think it might have been Tom Russel (late night rock show fame)who owned it? I also think it moved to Mount Florida early 70's. Comment: Cumbo.
Name Jan Robertson Comment: I worked there 1969-1972 and was buyer/manageress. "Gloria's Record Bar" was owned and run by the Blint family: Howard Blint was the manager. The shop was named after Howard's sister, Gloria. Mrs. Blint also worked there - Howard's mum. They also owned East Kibride Music Centre. (February 14, 2017)

such happy memories of times gone bye.I shopped in the Battlefield branch until you opened up in East Kilbride where we lived.I loved all the Petula Clark records around that time,and pre ordered them from you getting my father to drive me down.Am I remembering this correctly,but think I may have bought a portable radio from the E.K.shop on "easy payments"? Kind regards to you .

I am killing time in Battlefield and am standing outside what was Gloria's Record Bar. I was just a wee boy when my parents bought me the first With The Beatles album there and as there was a fault on it, hastily returned it to Gloria's. Oh, how I wish they had kept it, as it would be worth a fortune now!
It was a nice wee shop and the elderly gentleman serving was very friendly.
Many albums followed including his recommendation to try a new band he thought may go places with their first album, which I bought from him - Dire Straights!! How right he was.

I worked in GLORIA’S RECORD BAR BATTLEFIELD ROAD Glasgow (in the late ‘60s and into the early ‘70s).
I promised to dig out an old photo of me in the shop. I found the photo and misplaced it again! However …
Someone uploaded a photo of the owner of Gloria’s ( HOWARD BLINT) - it must have been taken when I was there as I recognise the layout of this larger area of the shop where guitars and small musical instruments were sold and where classical and more middle-of -the -road records were sold - Al Martino, Andy Williams, Perry Como etc.,
I was manager in the area accessed by an arch. Here we sold rock/pop. Image HOWARD BLINT
