Phil Groom December 24, 2021 · Probably the most successful PA at HMV Wolves was with England and Wolverhampton Wanderers legend and local hero Steve Bull. This was around 88-90. Wolves had been languishing in the doldrums of Division 4 for some time until this guy turned up and turned around the Club's fortunes. As their games were never screened on TV, they started to film them themselves and produce VHS tapes to retail. We had cultivated a really good relationship with their Marketing Manager and ultimately we became the sole supplier in Wolves. Game played on Saturday - on the shelves on Tuesday. This PA was the launch of the 'Steve Bull Life Story' Video. On the day the queue was so massive that it went out of the Mander Shopping Centre and along the High Street. He started signing at 1.30 and finished at 5 making sure everyone got to see him. If memory serves me correctly we shifted about 600 units along with T-Shirts etc on the day.
