(May 27, 2013) CC Rider said:The Camden shop was one of the best shops for secondhand Jazz and World music in the 70s. I picked up more than a few rarities there.

I agree  the selection was choice.  The curator.

(April 19, 2015) A fantastic little shop in Portobello Road, not far from Ladbroke Grove tube station. It was from here that the legendary Mo Wax record label sprang forth - the label's founder, James Lavelle, worked there for a time and set the label up using money donated by the shop's owner
Comment: Simon Mallett

I worked for founders Jon Clare & Dave Ryner from 1978 until 1980. I worked in the basement of the Camden shop, buying in jazz etc and studying deletion list from USA distributors. NZ Phil and Ali worked there as well....  I also worked in the HJ Monmouth St shop n[the old Soul City premises] opposite Ray's Jazz Shop, and covered for Ray Cheddie and Leoy Andersonb inwhen they had their days off from Marooin's tunes in Greek St, which was HJ's reggae outlet.  Steve Barrow
