(April 19, 2015) A fantastic little shop in Portobello Road, not far from Ladbroke Grove tube station. It was from here that the legendary Mo Wax record label sprang forth - the label's founder, James Lavelle, worked there for a time and set the label up using money donated by the shop's owner

I worked for founders Jon Clare & Dave Ryner from 1978 until 1980. I worked in the basement of the Camden shop, buying in jazz etc and studying deletion list from USA distributors. NZ Phil and Ali worked there as well.... I also worked in the HJ Monmouth St shop n[the old Soul City premises] opposite Ray's Jazz Shop, and covered for Ray Cheddie and Leoy Andersonb inwhen they had their days off from Marooin's tunes in Greek St, which was HJ's reggae outlet.
