Old Time Music

Picture
(June 10, 2013) Tony May said:Old Time Music was owned by the same man who had a shop of the same name in George Street, Hastings for a number of years. The shop sold mainly budget releases from labels many of which were on european labels like 'Disky'. The owner used to import and wholesale a lot of stuff and both this shop and the one in George Street were outlets to sell some of what he imported. Both shops also stocked budget box sets and cheap DVD collections. Nostalgia was also a big thing and you could pick up many steam train DVD's, collections of Fred Dibnah's programmes and stuff like early Al Bowly or Nat King Cole CD's. The Eastbourne branch was situated just down the road from A&N in the row of shops before you get to Seaside Rd where 'Carolines' was.

Old Town Music was around in George Street, Hastings for quite a few years. The large, spacious shop had a basic feel to it (bare floor boards etc) but was a useful outlet for anyone looking for budget priced CD's, DVD's and at one time video's. During the shop's lifetime it also dabbled in second-hand vinyl but this side of things never really took off and turn around of stock was poor.  The shop did sell full price CD's as well but these were mainly classic albums like 'Dark Side Of The Moon' by Pink Floyd, rock regulars like Guns N Roses and Motorhead or mainstream chart stuff of the ilk to suit the older generation (like Celine Dion, Cliff Richard etc)
