I found an article in the ‘Derby Express’ dated 19th October 1989:
“Jive Bunny & the Master Mixers - who have leapt to number one with their new single ‘That’s What I Like’ - were in Ilkeston to help the staff of Big Al’s Records celebrate their first birthday. A record number of people packed into the shop at 43 South Street, Ilkeston to meet the carrot-eating chart buster.”
... and also this article in the ‘Nottingham Evening Post’ dated 6th October 1998:
“Big Al's Records is the latest to announce they will shut up shop. Big Al's Records at 101 High Road, Beeston is also winding down, although owner Alan Parkes has not set a closure date yet.”
