Comment: This shop belonged to my late husband Bob King. I worked there too, before our daughters were born, helpfully both on a Sunday, when the shop was closed!

Comment: Discus in Bishop's Stortford operated from the late 1980s to mid-1990s (I’d estimate 1988-1994). They also briefly had a second store in the town in Sworders Yard (a kind of shopping arcade) which was very small.

I worked at Discus Music in Bishop's Stortford for a couple of years back in 1990. Some great memories working with Teg and Laurence. Friday nights after work Teg would shut the shop and we would have drinks and listen to music.

I found a mention of Discus Music in the ‘Newmarket Journal’ dated 21st October 1993:
“A NEW record shop is set to open in Newmarket’s Rookery precinct next month. Discus Music has agreed terms on the unit next to John Hilary Travel. It currently has another shop In Bishops Stortford.”

I found this piece in the 'Dunmow Observer' dated 8th September 1988: “RECORD shop proprietor Tegwyn Davis is quitting Sworder’s Yard in Bishop’s Stortford for premises in Bridge Street. The owner of Discus Music has paid a substantial sum for the lease of the former Ricochet boutique of Jane Doran. Mr Davis opened his first shop a year ago.”
