Comment: I worked at Harpers from approximately 1960, when I was 12 years old, until I was approximately 18 years old. It was also an electrical shop, as well as selling children’s toys; it was in fact two shops, one side selling electrical goods, on the other records & toys.

I found this classified advert in the 'West London Observer' dated 2nd August 1935: “BOY wanted, reliable; must be good scholar; to be taught record, music and wireless trade; splendid opportunity for advancement for right lad.—Call at once, Harper's Music Stores, 87, Golborne Road, North Kensington.”
... and also this advert in the 23rd August 1946 edition: “SHOP Assistant required, Radio and Gramophone Record trade. Harpers Music Stores, 87 Golborne Road, W.10. Wages £2 10s.”
