Great record shop that was based in Fletchers Walk, Paradise Circus and was the major shop for all things Americana (before it was really called that) and Power Pop.

Owner Martin was in revered Brum band The Great Outdoors and has sent a couple of photos of the shop in to the archive, including the day legendary punk poet John Cooper Clarke dropped by.

I found this piece in the ‘Birmingham News’ dated 21st May 1992:
"Martin Silvers, owner of independent record shop Highway 61 in Paradise Circus, said he was finding it impossible to compete with large stores on certain new releases: “The prices record companies and big shops are trying to charge for CDs is a joke.”
