Hilda used to serve customers herself. Her shop was mainly classical, but she did carry some pop records, that I suspect she rather wished she didn't need to sell. But she needed to make a living. I recall buying The Blood, Sweat & Tears single 'Hi-de-Ho (That Old Sweet Roll)' there, because no other shop had it.

I found an advert in the Cheshire Observer, dated 6th December 1958:
“Miss HILDA CATHERALL, 3 ST. WERBURGH STREET, CHESTER. PHONE 23400. Exports records to all parts of the world. Why not visit her shop and see the large stock of records, gramophones, stereophonic sound equipment, and sheet music?”
