Comment: The Music Box was on Guildhall Street for a long time after it moved from Finkin Street. At both locations I seem to remember that downstairs was for instruments, sheet music, and possibly classical records, and upstairs was for pop/rock records.
They had very limited stock so it was rare that I ever bought anything from there but the bag image you have was the same design before and after the move (I think). If memory serves they opened some time in the early nineties and must have closed mid- to late nineties.

I found this announcement in the 'Grantham Journal' dated 4th July 1986: “ANNOUNCEMENT: The Music Box, FINKIN STREET, GRANTHAM. THE ABOVE BUSINESS IS NOW UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP. PHYLLIS & BERTIE ASHWORTH WISH TO THANK ALL PAST CUSTOMERS FOR THEIR SUPPORT OVER THE LAST EIGHT YEARS OF SUCCESSFUL TRADING. THE NEW OWNERS WILL CONTINUE TO GIVE THEM THE SAME HIGH QUALITY SERVICE * Cassettes * Compact Discs * Instruments & Accessories.”

I found an advert in the 'Grantham Journal' dated 10th December 1993: “THE MUSIC BOX, KINGS WALK, GRANTHAM (opp. ARGOS) (0476) 72151. The most comprehensive range of CD's and tapes in the area.
