I found this piece in the 'Aberdeen Evening Express' dated 20th July 1992: “LOW NOTE: Alex and Averill Chalmers, owners of Newmarket Tapes, in the Aberdeen Market, have been told to clear out their entire stock of CDs and video tapes in a bizarre business row. But after 18 years of successful business, owners Alex and Averill are determined to put up a fight. Newmarket Tapes moved into the Aberdeen Market in 1974, the first business to trade in the new-look store.”
… they were still advertising in local newspapers right up until November 1999 so it looks like they won the fight to stay put in Aberdeen Market.
