I remember going into Nicklins,I believe it was on the square, and listening to records in the booths with headphones, very big ones, not like now, they are so small you can hardly see them
I bought my first Bush record player from there.
I bought my first record from Nicklins and seem to remember that it had moved to the Square. A very atmospheric shop!

I found an advert in the 'North Devon Journal' dated 7th December 1950: “NICKLIN'S Offer over 3,000 RECORDS from which to choose YOUR CHRISTMAS GIFTS. Special selection of Children's Records. A Record Token can be exchanged anywhere. High Street, ILFRACOMBE; The Square, BARNSTAPLE; Bridgeland Street, BIDEFORD. KINDLY NOTE - ALL STOCK IS BRAND NEW. Hire and Exchange of Records cannot be entertained.”
