Comment: Grimsby never really had a proper record shop for almost the whole time I was growing up there. The best we had was Boots in the town centre, which sold Top 40 singles and pop albums, or electrical stores like Rayners down Freeman Street, which sold records, littered among the white goods that comprised most of its business. (Rayners also had listening booths until quite late into the 1970s.)

I found this address in the 'Grimsby Daily Telegraph' dated 27th June 1958: “RAYNERS ELECTRICAL, 136-140 Freeman Street, Grimsby. Tel: 49454095. RAYNERS, Est. 34 Years.”
