Rugged Vinyl Records UK Hardcore/Drum & Bass label started in 1992 by Ben James and Ray Stanley from D.O.P.E. Originally, Ray was the manager of Passion Records on Oxford Street and Ben was the manager of Red Records in Peckham.

I worked there from when I was 15 after answering an ad in the NME, I was the alternative kid but I knew a lot about hiphop. It was violent and brilliant and fun.

I found this piece in the 'Daily Express' dated 4th February 1994: “RED RECORDS (500 Brixton Road) Offers the latest sounds in dance music, reggae, rap and hip-hop. There's also a large selection of baseball caps. The music spills out into the street and the shop is open until 8 pm.”
