I found an article in the ‘Ruislip and Northwood Gazette’ dated 13th May 1998:
“Fond farewell from Ruislip Records: AFTER celebrating 40 years in the business of record retailing RUISLIP RECORDS have been forced to turn off their decks. Over the years so many changes have occurred in the industry that they can no longer provide the service they wish to. Pricewise they cannot compete with the giant purchasing power of the major chains and record companies prefer to deal with larger accounts. Despite their attempts to continue to trade under these circumstances they have been forced to accept that lack of support by record companies to independent dealers and a change of emphasis from music to marketing has completely changed what was once a fun Industry. Over the years we have endeavoured to help our many loyal customers, young and old and recently several people have recalled shopping with us for most of their lives.”
