(Jan11, 2015)Thanks! I was trying to remember the name of the shop I bought Robert Wyatt's 'Grass' back in ...ooh...whenever....Anyway, all I could remember was it was that little place in Paragon Station..Comment: Andy Hunwick

(April 16, 2015) I loved this record shop. For me, it was the best shop in Hull. I used to visit every Saturday afternoon and check out the American import albums. The staff were always friendly and chatty. Comment: Gary Turner

I found this advert in the 'Hull Daily Mail' dated 19th February 1971: “RECORDS - SHAKESPEARE BROS of 173 Spring Bank Hull are pleased to announce the opening of their new premises at PARAGON STATION, HULL (formerly Calvin’s Box). All your favourites and top of the pops.”
... and this advert in the 26th February 1971 edition: “TAKING A RECORD HOME? Or Battery for your Transistor Radio? Your nearest and newest shop is in PARAGON STATION. We have LP’s to suit all tastes and of course all the Pop Singles. Call at SHAKESPEARE BROS., PARAGON STATION, HULL and also 173 Spring Bank.”
... plus this announcement in the 14th December 1979 edition: “The Damned are making a personal appearance from 3.30 p.m. at Shakespeare Bros. Records, Hull, Paragon Station. BE THERE or BE A SQUARE.”

I think they also had a shop on Beverley Road just down from Cave Street. I bought my first ever LP Mud Slime Slom and the Blue Horizon by James Taylor from there.
