Comment: The basis of my 78rpm collection and LP collection came from here. I used to spend hours in the shop on a Saturday and then smuggle my purchases past my mother when I got home. I think it closed in the late 1960s. I was in London by 1969. The shop had an unbelievable number of the 78 Twelfth Street Rag by Pee Wee Hunt and his Orchestra! I still have many of the records I bought there.

Name: Ed Marimba
Comment: This shop also sold secondhand golf clubs and other various sports equipment too.

I couldn't find any adverts for Silverdale's at 1146 Dumbarton Road, Glasgow, but I did find several for Silverdale at 114 New City Road, Glasgow, in various newspapers from 1950/51 e.g.: “FOR SALE - BOOKS, second-hand, posted. Write for lists. SILVERDALE, 114 New City Road, Glasgow.”
… and several for Silverdale at 47 Bank Street, Glasgow in the 'Daily Record' from 1952-54 e.g.: “RECORDS - Thousands from 2/-; Typewriters £3-£9 - Silverdale, 47 Bank Street, Glasgow.”
