Simon's Records in Southend-on-Sea? More 60s Saturday social club than shop, as far as us Grammar-school boys were concerned. But I did buy my first LP there, and still have it; Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica. Comment: Sparro

I loved this record shop! It was really near to my home;I was about 15 or 16 when I first used to buy records there and would sometimes buy 2 albums a week there. He was a very laid back guy who had John Lennon glasses.
He had real gems for sale and I remember being very excited about getting the Pink Floyd 'bootleg' called 'Pinkie'.
Simon's was to resurface to me much later in the early nineties when back in Southend I became friendly with someone called Simon who one day told me that his dad had had a record shop and had named it after him! Totally amazing! Keep on spinning! Rob (2019)
