I found this advert in the 'Western Mail' dated 15th December 1927: “Call and hear some of the latest records. We have a large selection for you to choose from, including a special issue of Christmas Music from His Masters' Voice. SPILLERS' PHONO EXCHANGE, 23 QUEEN ST. ARCADE, CARDIFF.”
… and this address in the 'South Wales Echo' dated 28th April 1995: “SPILLERS RECORDS 36 THE HAYES, CARDIFF.”

I was a local dj from the mid 80s to 2000. spillers was superb and my only store i was buying from. If spillers couldnt get it, then nobody could.
During that time, Julian (RIP) was the man. Liam was also on the ball with his knowledge and knowing what you were playing. Conan (RIP) was also a mine of information. Lost him at a very early age.
I no longer live in cardiff but do go back several times a year. I have never been to their new location in the arcade. I understand that Nicks daughter now runs the store.
Big up to the owner Nick. I forget the names of the other staff. Every DJ in south wales shopped at spillers. I still have a load of spillers red record bags that i have used to contain items and kept in storage.

Growing up in Risca, every Xmas I would go to Spillers to get a pile o' vinyl. To this teenager, Spillers was an Aladdin's Cave that always had everything I was looking for.
I live in the USA now, but whenever I am back in Wales I have to visit Spillers with my daughter Natalie. Natalie doesn't do physical media, but loves Spillers for what it represents. I just wish I could come by more often!
