Pretty sure the shop was actually called Tumbleweed Collection. I remember the owner would often leave a sign on the door saying 'back in 10 mins'. An hour later he would appear from the pub across the road. He was on an episode of Magpie, showing the viewers how to look after their vinyl collection. One of his tips was "don't dunk your records in a bucket of soapy water." The record he had in his hand as he demonstrated this was Bowie's 1975 UK pic sleeve of Space Oddity. The shop was in Picton Place, tucked behind Selfridges.

(9 Jan 17, 2016) Phil Enthucol Don't recall the Magpie show, but was a regular visitor to the shop, another customer was a bloke from Woking called Weller! Think the owners name was Bernard (?)
( March 16, 2016)I think it was Connection. Was the owner a fan of Elton John perhaps? I used to buy old Stax Atlantic and Tamla singles from him. I thought his prices were very reasonable. As I remember he put a little address label in the top corner of each single sleeve. Comment: Trauts Heytarl.

I was married to the owner of Tumbleweed Connection, Alan Finch, from 1990 until 2014. Met Elton John quite a few times, even stayed at his house with Alan and our first Son Josh who was about 1. Alan had to document loads of memorabilia - records etc which Elton had, Alan being no 1 Elton Superfan and having worked as his PR & Promotion Manager, in addition to writing a book about Elton’s music.
