I found this classified advert in the 'Marylebone Mercury' dated 6th May 1960: “Wm. WHITELEY Ltd., QUEENSWAY, BAYSWATER, W. 2, require permanent, experienced staff in our following departments: SALESLADIES FOR... Handbags, Gramophone records, Shoes, Knitwear, Handkerchiefs and scarves.”
