I found this in the 'Hull Daily Mail' dated 11th August 1988:
“Andy’s Records need people to open up Hull! Andy’s Records (the UK ’s largest and liveliest independent record retailer) are looking for dynamic young sales people for our fantastic new store in Hull. No experience is necessary as full training is given but an excellent knowledge of contemporary music is absolutely essential. Great career prospects and a highly competitive salary await the successful applicants. Please write for an application form to:- The Personnel Dept., Andy’s Records Limited, 90 St. John’s Street, Bury St. Edmunds.”
...and this in the 27th September 1988 edition:
“New store. Hull is to get a city centre record store from next month. Andy’s Records, UK’s largest independent record retailer, opens at Jameson Street on October 8 in the former Evans shop. The company currently has 10 branches throughout East Anglia and opened its first Humberside outlet in Grimsby earlier this year.”
...plus this in the 14th October 1988 edition:
“Andy's Records are open now at Jameson Street, Hull. So come on down, browse around and bury yourself in ear ear sounds at the record store that really knows what you’re talking about when you’re talking music. 'Cos Andy's Records at Jameson Street, is where music matters.”
